will be welcomed in our spacious reception area. It contains a computer
terminal that has a copy of our web site. It is reserved for the use of
our clients. If you need help one of our receptionists will assist you.

Exam Rooms
We have 5 spacious exam rooms each with
a different theme. They allow privacy and enhance our ability to give
you individual attention. Several of our exam rooms contain computer
terminals with a copy of our web site for your exclusive use.

Treatment area
This part of our hospital is the center
of all the medical action. When a pet first comes into the hospital it
is processed in the treatment area. The record is logged into our
census sheet and any treatments or diagnostic tests ordered by one of
our doctors is put on the treatment board.
The treatment board gets quite busy at
times. Our nurses are able to determine which pets need treatment at
just a glance.

Several pieces of equipment are needed
for us to provide high quality nursing care. One of these is our
intravenous fluids pump, a machine that allows precise administration
of fluids on a continual basis.

We work on a wide
variety of species that need highly refined medical care. The bird
in this picture is in a special oxygen cage.

Radiology
We have the capability of radiographing
almost any sick pet. Terri is show here with her protective equipment
setting up to take an x-ray of a rabbit.

We have particular expertise at
radiography in unusual or highly sensitive animals. This is a
radiograph of an egg in a bird that is egg
bound.

Our x-ray machine allows an accurate
image of your pet's internal organs with negligible amounts of
radiation. These controls are what enables us to deliver a minuscule
amount of precise radiation

all radiation is continuously
monitored. Every 3 years our machine is inspected by the state of
California to ensure no danger to your pet or our staff. In addition,
our staff wears protective lead shields and badges that monitor
radiation exposure.

We have more information on radiology
in our diagnostic page.
Surgery
We can provide surgical care on a wide
variety of species. We are particularly accomplished at laser surgery.
This is our surgical board on a typical
day. We complete almost all of our surgeries in the morning so that
most pets can go home the same day of their surgery.

Our surgical suite is equipped with
state of the art monitoring and surgical equipment. We have a viewing
area if you would like to watch surgery.

A very important part of surgery
is anesthesia. This is a picture of anesthesia
monitoring equipment, an instrument that closely monitors anesthesia
and gives us a wide safety margin.

One of our technicians is
checking and calibating the machine at the start of the day's surgery.

To learn more about anesthesia
we have a page that will explain it in more detail.
Surgery can not be performed without
sterile equipment. The machine that sterilizes our equipment is called
an autoclave. It accomplishes this feat because it works at high
temperature and high pressure.

Inside of every surgery pack is a strip
of paper called a sterileometer. It lets us know if the instruments
inside of the pack reached the proper temperature and pressure in order
to make them sterile. The black line on the far left side of the tape
is our indication that everything is OK.

Our surgery is also equipped to perform
laser surgery.

We have a detailed page on laser surgery for more information.
In addition to surgery we clean pets'
teeth in the surgery suite. We use an ultrasonic scaler to gently
vibrate plaque off the teeth.

Dental care is a very important part of
the overall care of your pet. You should educate yourself on this
overlooked problem by going to our dental page.
Lab
Our laboratory has the capability to
perform diagnostic tests on your pet's blood. This is particularly
useful for pre anesthetic blood panels and emergencies, where the
results are available immediately. Our diagnostic
test page explains these tests in more detail.
Our blood machine is able to check many
different diagnostic parameters with speed and accuracy.

a high speed centrifuge allows us to
check for anemia and monitor your pet's protein level

Our blood machine also has the
capability of providing analysis of electrolytes like sodium and
potassium. This is particularly important in an emergency.

We also have the capability of
analyzing your pet's stool for internal parasites

To learn more about internal parasites
you can go to our worms page.
